Sounds great Tammy.....I wonder if you could substitue canned apples for the fresh apples?
BTW, reading all of your recipes has my mouth watering.....especially that egg salad one...I'm going to have to make some now tomorrow...LOL

I don't see why not just drain the syrup off of them. They will be softer than using fresh so the texture will be off but that's the only difference I can think of.
My down fall was the fish and tartar sauce lol.

One question though... what's a good "tarty" apple? What do you recommend?

I like Granny Smith apples but there are very very many that are good for this recipe. It kind of depends on the kind of flavor contrasts you like in your food.

I love EMPIRES for baking like when I do
a baked apple... tasty...
*and Red Delicious* can be good too, nice and crisp apple..

Peach Apple Crisp
8 Servings of 1/2 cup each
20 oz Peach slices, canned in light syrup, drained
2 med. Apples, tart, peeled, sliced
1/2 tsp Vanilla
1/4 tsp Cinnamon
1 cup Flour
1/4 cup Brown sugar, packed
3 Tbsp Margarine, chilled
1. Preheat over to 350F. Light grease 9 x 9 x 2 inch casserole dish.
2. Combine peaches, apples, vanilla, and cinnamon in a bowl. Toss well and spread evenly in greased casserole dish.
3. Combine flour and sugar in small bowl. Cut in margarine until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
4. Sprinkle flour mixture evenly over fruit.
5. Bake until lightly browned and bubbly, about 20 minutes.
