HI
GREG since you pruned back your Red Oak this spring it should start putting on new growth very soon i think it will be ok.but the best time to prune back any tree or shrub is in the late fall or early spring while the tree is still dormant.but i think it will be just fine.just give it time.your friend in gardening mike57
