Hi everyone... [wayey]
I have been looking for ways to control iris borers for our hybrid iris. I was looking thru my Birds and Blooms magazine today and they were talking about "predacious nematodes" used to control the borers. Does anyone know more about this and where i can purchase them? [thinker] Thanks for the help... [thumb] Greg [kissies] [wayey] [angel]

Nematodes are usually available at most nurserys in early spring (they have to be replaced yearly). The banner ad on my Good Bug page is also promoting them now!

Hey Greg, [wayey]
I've been thinking about this....
Sometimes they say, when you have problem
with a plant, they emmit a signal or something
that alerts the bug, "I'M SICK" or I'm not growing right,
Are your plants in the right growing mediums, area, sun, dirt that it's in, or rhizomes planted correctly??? Or too wet??

Just curious, I had a bed of iris's I got when I bought the house.. I didn't do anything to it the first year, and they had some good blooms/??
And over zealous me, went and sprinkled compost over the top of them, and each year went by, the blooms decreased, and then I did get them too,
(I had no place [tears] to put them in or no beds
made up to transfer them to, so I left them, they weren't dying, just not flowering.. )
but when I discovered the bore things, I had to move them and do something to them..

So, look at the area they are in??
Does that make sense or did I confuse you more>>??

Thanks Weezie and Bess for the help! [thumb] I appreciate it...I think i will purchase some of that Grub away for our lawn and irises...The grubs and beetles sure are a nuisance..The beetles weren't as bad this past summer but bad enough... [Frown]
The iris bed we have gets at least 5 hrs of sunshine [flower] a day and we put alot of sand in the bed for good drainage....We have the rhizomes on the top of the soil with the roots in the ground..We have to place some back in the ground in the spring because of our heavy freezes here.. [Razz]
I am also looking for a sky blue large hybrid iris for our bed if anyone has any ideas... [thinker]
Thanks again for the help and i hope everyone is staying warm and healthy... [angel]
Spring is coming.... [Smile]
