Now.... I am not at all in ANY way the person who can answer your question... but I can share my experience with the white powdery stuff.
I noticed it on the leaves of my peas (then they had only a few sets of leaves). first I thought it was some sort of critter burrowing but when I consulted a book in a nursery I discovered it was mildew that was caused by getting the leaves wet. I bought some sort of anti-fungal spray (sorry I don't have access to the bottle right now, but there were a million brands). I followed the instructions and, while the affected leaves never really lost all the powdery stuff, the new growth was just fine.
I am not sure if your problem is the same but I figured it couldn't hurt.

For the last week, my strawberries, eggplant, peppers, cucumbers, and squash have all had white powder on them.
Is this the same powdery mildew found on roses?? What do I do?? I tryed spraying some organic stuff on it, but it keeps coming back.
Help!! (and thanks!)
