I'd leave the first couple that set fruit Belinda. Then nip the rest of the female flowes off if you need to. Maybe let 3 or 4 get started and then start pinching the new ones off in case you get some failures. You can always thin out later.

okay question.
Hubby likes watermelons and we set out a couple plants (seeds) and they are up now. We'll only eat a couple mellons all summer so only need a couple.
I know when they grow prize mellons they pinch off all but one, so I was thinking I could remove all but 2 on each vine for a bigger and better mellon.
here's question, when do I remove unwanted mellons and how do I decide which ones to remove?
no mellons yet but I do have blooms.
