I have a banana leaf ficus. It is about 5 ft tall. My problem is from the crown (it is sort of the weeping ficus style) I have a branch that has grown up about two feet from the crown. I would like to know if I can tie this branch downward and teach it to 'weep' or if I am better off cutting the branch back. Thanks for your responses.

I would think it would be better to tie it down. Just my personal preference. Cutting into the bark invites pests.

When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant.
