I have some plants that will be coming indoors after being outside during the summer months. I do not want to bring in the bugs that may be on them. What can I use that is simple to put around them or on top of the soil to make sure the bugs will be gone? I believe I was reading a post that said put moth balls around them but if so how long do I leave them on the soil before bringing them in? Hope someone can give me some ideas bye ladystressout!!

Thank you Bill I enjoy reading that topic and did not know that the site had an article about bringing outdoor plants inside? Again thank you much! Rita

I use Garden Safe brand Insceticidal Soap from Schultz. It's a spray that you shake up and apply to the plants you're going to bring in. Sometimes, it doesn't kill eggs, only bugs that are already alive. So, you may bring in a plant and still see bugs in a few days. Just respray for a while and you'll solve the problem.

I leave the mothballs on about a month.

Good luck with the no bugs. I set my house plants out every year (use to just move them to the porch) but now I move them on to a shady spot I have next to the porch (grass won't grow there anyway) And last fall I brough in a toad frog. I could have done with out him in there tossing dirt everywhere all over the carpet. I'm hoping this year that will not happen. I usually start bring stuff in oh...last week or so of October. My little friend stayed hid until it started warming up in april. Then for a few days every time I'd go in that room dirt was on the floor. Finally saw him.

I try to take one day at a time -- but sometimes several days attack me at once.

A todd frog wow that must of been funny? It would of scare the stuff out of me not knowing what it was did it make any sounds during the time the plant was inside?I also hope nothing like that will happen this time either you have to keep me posted if anything else strange comes inside this time? Bye Rita
