After my Mother died, I brought home her orchid cactus. She had been ill for some time, and I'm afraid her houseplants suffered. Anyway...here's my question. Instead of growing broad, flat leaves that one normally sees on an orchid cactus, hers is producing long, round hairy leaves, a little bigger around than a pencil. These are growing from the nodes (?) of the flat orignal leaves. Is this normal? What am I doing wrong? Also, it has not flowered since I've had it...since October 2003. It's in an east window in a hanging basket. I appreciate any help you can give me.

I grow whats called an orchid cacti.has flat leaves and has sprouts growing off them.not actually the same as the flat leaves.its a cutting& had already learned would take about 2 years for it settle in and bloom..possibly a color of pink.
I also grow some "stubs "of night blooming cerus.not bloomed yet.were divions I believe.

Look at this 2nd pic!I would just love to move that very plant to beside my pond.

The garden jungle link on 1 st page has some grow info and problems to watch for.I now know my white mold spots were from uneven temps on mine..musta been them triple digit temp swings we have here in summer.
