Hi Crabgrass,
I did a FORUM SEARCH and here's one of the
previous posts we had on it... it was originally a bug question about the plant, but there's some
good growing info on there too!!!
Garden Helpers Forum search on Sensitive Plant
Hope this info helps!!

Thanks a lot weezie and forgive my laziness, I should have searched before posting... my only excuse is that I was rushed and had to go to work !
Good information in that post, and by golly the thing does have thorn !

Not a problem,
I like reading up on stuff so I know!!!
I love info on plants, and that's just
a bonus for learning...
I just love those plants,
I had one when I was probly 10..
touched it one (thousand) times too many!!
But it was just the coolest thing I'd ever seen.
But the foliage is very interesting,
Not an average big leaf you know!!
Anyways, hope the info helped??
Please keep us posted on how it's doing!!
We love updates!

It is true that this is not a long-lived plant indoors.
Water it thoroughlly whenever the surface of the soil feels dry.
The leaves lose their sensitivity if they are played with a lot. Occasional contact with the leaves will not cause any harm.
Don't repot it. It will never get big enough indoors to need a larger pot.

Search The Garden Helper:
Right now it's on my "humid shelf" ( 80% humidity ) and it seems happy, I believe it even has some new growth. It's still in its original 3" pot, and I watered it the day I got it but I'm not sure how much water it requires. I read somewhere that it's one of those "Throw-away after one season" plant - I don't like this, I'm one of those people who won't even throw away a cutting without trying to make it root !
I also read that the interesting folding action of the plant shouldn't be abused as it could weaken the plant - how then would one repot a mimosa without having it collapse completely ?
I saw a wild dove outside yesterday - hopefully it's a sign of coming spring !
