Search The Garden Helper:
I have a dracaena marginalis that was having issues with bugs on the soil, as well as being pot-bound. I re-potted it, and found that you can kill soil insects by drenching the soil with an insecticidal soap. After some further searching, I found a recipe for home-made insecticidal soap, which is to put two tablespoons of Dawn liquid soap into one gallon of water and apply. So I took the Dawn soap that we had, Ultra Concentrated Dawn antibacterial soap, and put 1 and a half tablespoons into the jug. Then, I drenched the soil with it, until it had ran through the pot through the drainage hole.
Now I found this site which says not to use extra strength and anti-bacterial soap. Did I just kill my plant?! I did this just a few minutes ago, maybe I can save it?!
Thanks!
