I had the idea of starting a Tropical Garden last year. I picked up 25 Cannas they did not do real good but this year they really looked good. Maybe next year I will have that Tropical feel.

Cinta,
Cannas are awesome. I can imagine what 25 look like. How many varieties do you have? My problem is I need to dig them up each year before the first frost. I am always pleased with the large leaves and rich color of the flowers. I have been planning a new bed with cannas as the main attraction, I was thinking about getting a few different colors.
Are yours all in containers?

I LOVE the first one...the green and white variegated one. Do you happen to know which cultivar it is? What color are the flowers? I have several planted in various places throughout my gardens. You just have to give them a lot of space because they spread out quite a bit.

Thank you for looking at my latest crazy.

BFVision, I keep most in pots. I have the space to winter them in my make shift plant room basement. I do not take them out of the pots until Spring and separate. I have about 15 different varities the and doubles of some.

For my jungle effect I am doing Brugs, Bananas, Elephant Ears and Cannas. All are brought in for the winter.

alankhart, The first one is Stuttgart it likes a bit of shade or the leaves will burn. The fowers are orange notheing to write home about.

Second everyone knows Bengal Tiger,

The last is Cleopatra she has big Purple stripe on the leaf and as you can see she has flower power attraction.

MisJamie, I think they are in your zone. It is in a zone 7 and higher. In my zone 6 I have to bring them in for the winter.

Yeppers perrenials for us. Although I put mine in a concrete pot this year so I will lift them and put them in the garden next year. I'm afraid the planter would just get to cold.

Lynne/Plants and Pots posted a post
