It's quite rare to get any flowers on a Myrtillocactus geometrizans crest. The "crest' in it's name refers to the abnormal distortion in the growth which is not typical of the species...
Crested cacti seldom produce flowers of any significance.

I lived in Reno, Nevada for 7 years and didn't fully appreciate the beauty of cacti then. Now that I'm back in NY I buy them whenever I can! Which isn't as easy as it sounds - there aren't too many places that have a good variety of healthy plants. I did spend an hour in the new Ikea store nearby in Paramus, NJ last Thursday and managed to get 5 nice sized cacti. Of course they just had generic labels, so I have no idea what I got. Some day soon I hope to get a digital camera, and then I'll bother you all for IDs, ok?
Do you have any more pictures of cacti - I love seeing the many varieties.

Hey, Catlover! Does that cactus and succulent nursery in Vista still exist?? I need to make a pilgrimage to North County & see what they have.

I believe so....but don't know for sure! Let me know how it is and if they have a big variety!!!! I like to just get the little starters and watch them grow....some VERY slowly!lol I plant most in the ground full sun but then Bill got me hooked on several other kinds but they need more shade!!!! He isn't helping my addiction at all! The local garden shops don't carry many right now and Mrytle Creek not selling any right now either! Let me know what you find!

Catlover, Shade-loving succulents & cacti were a surprise to me. I have all my lithops in the shade as well as some senecios & hoyas, now. They let you know right away when they don't like the sun. Of course, if I'd known of The Garden Helper a year ago, I'd have had less trial-and-error!
