hi all,

today i was looking at my garden when i noticed for the first time that i had one cosmos with pink(ish.) petal and one wasn t,no,it was white;is it rare,i never saw that before and i ve been having cosmos in my gardens for 4yrs now.how can i propagate it to be sure i ll have more like it,the rest of them are all unicolored.

Francine...I've had quite a few white ones before--actually I have one growing out in the garden right now, so I don't think they are all that rare. They are pretty aren't they? Actually they are my favorite flowers because I like how tall they get, and the feathery light foliage....Plus I cut the flowers for vases.

I've never collected seeds from my Cosmos because I like to buy packets in the spring....Makes it feel more spring like to go and buy seeds...LOL

i agree with you,the white ones are pretty,i m soory i misexplained i met that on one of my pink(ish) cosmos all the petals are pink exept one petal is white,strange.

An albino cosmo? You can just pick the cosmo when it's dying out. Mark which one it is now with a string, so you will know later. Hang it upside down to dry then pick the seeds and place in an envelope in a cool dry place until the spring. Plant.

thanks for the info.;i did not know that there was such thing as an albino cosmos,even if there is on ly one petal that is white you think it would be albino,thanks for the info cuz i always though that albino met something or someone with no pigmentation ,so no colors at all,well i guess we learn at every age. [Embarrassed] [dunno]
