planting inbetween flag stone path

I put in a flag stone path through a shade garden that I"ve started, I used a 3''base of crushed lime stone for the flag stone, I ordered some scotish moss through a catologue to plant in between the stones, how must of the lime stone do I need to remove and replace with soil for the moss to grow?
