Purple Leaf Plum
(Prunus cerasifera ‘Pissardii Nigra’

I have one of these and this year it is developing what look like cherries but by the name of the tree must be plumbs.

My question is .....Does anyone know if you can eat them and if so....when do they get ripe. They seriously look exactly like a bing cherry.

Yes you can eat them, they're really good too! My family likes to pick them when they turn red,but my neighbor waits till they're purple(he like them SUPER sweet)
You can easily figure out what degree of ripeness you prefer by picking some when they are red and leaving some to go purple.

Enjoy your fresh fruit!
