I can see the flower Diane and it is very pretty! It always amazes me what pretty blooms I am seeing on the cacti and succulents. Never knew they could be so nice looking!

Good one Diane. Do those grow in the same conditions as succulents will?

Definately no frost for stapelia. They come from Souty Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Mozambique, ...
melcon6, why are you afraid of cacti? Is it the spines? Some are pretty spineless, some have soft spines, and only the prickly-pears and their relatives (opuntia) have glochids. If you want to grow them, there are safe ones.

may God bless the WHOLE world!

Diane - I have been reading about these online for a few years now, but have never seen them for sale around here. Though some people say that they are sold but not easily recognized when they are not in bloom, as they resemble other cacti.
I did know that they are supposed to STINK like rotting meat when in bloom, and that's why many people will not have them.
I might ask you for a start, if I can find a good place for one, if you don't mind.

I killed mine last year.I decided to keep it overwinter in house& the stems shrank up& shrivled& died.It really WAS much happier in winter in the cold GH.Mine was the ones with white flower burgandy edge.
I have seeds.I really should plant them.
