it should. actually, you can just put the cutting right in the dirt next to the mother plant!

i second what joclyn said. i root all my plants in the pot with the mother, that way i know i won't over water them while waiting for them to grow!

I saw some literature stating to allow the cutting to "callous" before putting it back in the pot. But if I understand you all right, I can place the cutting immediately back into the same pot with the original (Mother) plant? Thanks for your patience. I am brand new to all kinds of gardening. I have appreciated all the information from the fruits and vegetables sight.

There are air roots growing from my jade near it's top. If I cut that little section off and plant it in a 2" clay pot, would it grow ok?
