All my azaleas died, this year I put the acid fertilizer specifically for azaleas on them and they still didn't make it. Any suggestion on some nice evergreen, quick growing, sweet smelling shade happy shrubs?

azaleas need well drained soil. their roots do not like to sit in water. you may water too much or may have clay soil.
azara
bouvardia longiflora
brugmansia -- only b.sanguinea is not fragrant
clerodendrum bungei
sarcococca

I love the sweet scents wafting in the breeze. I stop to admire the vibrant colors of all living things. And people think me odd. Then ODD I am!!!
