I just purchased an "apple blossom" camellia yesterday. It says it blooms Oct-Dec, so that will give my yard a little something extra in the fall, when most other plants are going to sleep. I am wondering, would it be best to plant it in more sun or more shade? I have corner of the house that faces SW, and a corner that is NW... not sure which place to plant it. I've read that it does fine in full sun once established, but it can get quite hot and humid down here (SC) in the summer. Anyone else grow this shrub?
Thanks!

I bought one last fall.it gets mostly sun,but its in an area I water quiet freguently.I'd place NW.Shame ya didn't get to buy it in bloom.Did you know its fragrant??? [shocked] .I did notice the winds will make the petals fall sooner.Mulch it well.it will help retain water& after you've been watering it in good for about a month or two then water deeply once a week.they love being top dressed with cow manure spring& fall.mines about 2 1/2 feet right now.was bought in 3 gallon pot.I didn't know was fragrant till bloomed.smells more on warm day.I wanted another(after learned it smelled!)but were sold out(being 1/2 off you bet they gone!)
