Has anyone ever seen a dogwood tree "bleed?" It is time for the dogwoods to bud and this tree has very few buds and about 2 feet from the ground the trunk is dripping something. Anyone have any ideas?

I've never seen it on a dogwood, but is sounds like it's bleeding sap to me. Is there any damage or woodpecker holes where it's bleeding?

A pruning cut will often bleed in springtime. Bleeding does little harm if any, but be sure these aren't borer holes or some type of damage that needs attention.
