Cattails running amuck!! HELP

I have cattails that are overtaking our family pond, is there any way to get rid of them short of renting a backhoe to dig them out?

it depends on where you are. they keep cattails in check here by cutting them down before they can "bloom" or go to seed.

I wish I had cattails I love them for dried flower arrangements. Unfortunately to ship a box of them would cost more than I could afford. Otherwise you could send them to me. Do you have a local florist that might be interested in your excess?
