Winston, harvest corn when the silks have turned brown and dry and the ear feels full.

exactly like terry said- just don't wait too long after you see the brown silks- it can get old and shriveled even on the stalk.

To check closely, open a cob and puncture a kernel. If the fluid is milky it's ready to pick. If it's watery, it aint quite there yet.
