I am growing them in top soil that is covered with mulch. They only receive their water naturally for the most part and we have had a mild spring (not like last year). It is strange because one will fall in the midst of the other 5 in one bed, and the same will happen in the other bed. :(I`m thinking some kind of worm or borer. What do you think?

Great site. It looks like I have found the culprit, fungus. Lots of great info there for any perenial lover to see. Great info, thanks a lot
