I need help [dunno] Last year my butterfly bush grew to 10 feet tall and was a specimen for the ages [thumb] . This year the entire plant is dead [tears] , except for some new growth coming up from the ground near the base. Does this plant die back completely each year? [perplexed]

BFVISION,
Mine does here in N.Y. in zone 5....
Cut off all the old growth and let the
new shoots, come back up...

Butterfly bushes come back new each year. You should trim the branches each spring back to green wood before the buds appear. Don't worry, it'll be back bigger and better than last year in no time. They grow from the ground up each gardening season.
