Having just had a small scale mudslide I am now wondering how I am going to plant on that slope. Is there something that will hold the soil in place long enough for the new plantings to take hold. Something that can be bought in small quantities and cheaply. I don't want to have to stop planting but i'm kind of stuck. The nursery up the road has their slope planted and the mulch even stays in place and it's steeper than mine I think.

Why not plant a quick growing ground cover.
You could prep the area for planting first and then mulch it and sow it. Use anything from annual grass or nasturtiums to a whole swag of pumpkins or other rambling vines or even perrenial ground covers. There's no better way to hold a slope together than with plant roots.

go to the nursery and ask them how they planted on their hill. I would. [Smile]
