help! large mound in mulch with 3 inch entry holes

Recently layed 4" of mulch alongside front of house. Now there's a 4 foot wide mound about 5" high with 5 entry holes about 3 inches across covered with leaves to try and hide them. Mouse or moles?

Well, you've got me stumped. I'm going to suggest mice or rats, as moles like to burrow in the ground, yet it is still rather odd. ![[thinker]](im/graemlins/idea.gif)
