This is what I knew/thought: (not sure if it is completely accurate)

Bloom Color:
Red
Orange
Red-Orange
Bright Yellow

Bloom Time:
Mid Summer
Late Summer/Early Fall

So, yes, I do believe it shoud bloom soon!

Barb, the blooms will be orange with red dots on the petals. When the seed pods crack open, the seed clusters will be black and that's where the name is derived from. They look like blackberries. [Wink]

Lots of confusion with this beautiful plant. Although it is called a Lily, it is really in the Iris family and grows on from Rhizomes, not bulbs.

They will usually bloom the first year if seeds are sown early enough. After you have mature plants, you'll be able to divide them for more.

They are hardy to z5 so you may not have to dig them to overwinter. Another plus for the sweet little things. [Wink]

I harvested some seeds that I thought were blackberry lillies but evidently they aren't. they were little white flowers. But the had the blackberry looking seeds. One has come up but it is only about 8 inches tall and no flowers yet. I wonder what I have lol.

No these leaves are definitely the ones that look like glad leaves. It's a real nice fan shape too. Well I guess we'll just have to wait and see. I love suprises in the garden.

Don't be surprised if Blackberry Lillies don't bloom the first year. Sometimes they do, sometimes they don't. Wait till you see the neat way the petals twist around after they bloom - its one of the coolest things about this plant after the neat seed pods that they are named for.

I didn't know they didn't bloom the first year. Hum sounds like I will have to transfer it to a pot and take it with me. I wouldn't want to go through all this work and then not see it bloom. I should at least give it to a friend.
