how do you keep them out of the when you can't see them till it's too late? [Frown]

I use a small pistol oiler with a flexible spout that I got from my local hardware store to apply mineral oil to the silks after they wilt and have begun to turn brown at the tips. If you apply earlier, the oil will interfere with pollination.

I don't worry about waiting till I spot them, because I know they're coming.
