Along the commuter train lines in Toronto there are some advertising spots on the high sloping grassy banks at the sides of the tracks. They consist of words, for example: "Sears", and simple images made of white gravel like stone, perhaps lime chips, surrounded by a low green closely clipped ground cover.

Can anyone give me a reference as to where I can find out how to make this type of display?

If I was to guess, I would say make forms in the shape you want to use ( use boards or anything like metal to do the shapes.. Pour concrete into the forms, When the concrete begins to harden, press your gravel into it.. Let it harden.

worth a try .. First make a sample.

the way they are made here, they put edging (usually plastic) in the appropriate shape, then fill the letters in. planting the plants on the outside of the edging.

Hey, Dodge, I like to say that I went from a long name to a Long name. My maiden name had 13 letters, and my married name is LONG. [Big Grin]
