Does anyone have experience with evergreen clematis? I have a two year old vine that is covering a chain link fence. It spread beautifully over the last years but this year the base started to turn black and the bottom leaves yellowed and have now died. I see this blackness starting to spread up the vine and am fearful that the vine will die in a matter of weeks. Does anyone know what this could be? I live in zone 8, very hot, but the plant has only limited sun, 2 hours in the a.m. and about 2-3 hours in the late afternoon. It did well last year so i am at a loss now..Help!!

Is your soil moist? Clematis need well-drained soil, as overly wet soil encourges disease growth.
I do not have any Clematis, so that is all the help I can give. Sorry!
