Anyone know anything about watermelons? This is my first year growing them. I started the seeds indoor and when they started to grow I thought what a weird cucumber vine until I saw the round melons on them. I have heard they rot easily. Anyone have any advice on how to grow good watermelons. Thanks for your comments.

Lots of good hot weather, lots of watering or rain(at least an inch a week) and High nitogen fertilizer, till fruit set , then go with a higher Phospherous fert. The Middle number in your N-P-K. If you have had cool weather you can help them along with a black plastic mulch, set your ripening melons on a flat board to keep them up off the surface of the plastic! [wayey]
