Hi Everyone! I just ordered some seeds for mini zinnias. I was wondering how I should plant these? Some sites say 12 inches apart some say 6inches apart? How deep do I plant them? I am going to plant them directly in the flower bed. Any advice would be great. Thanks

Zinnias do best when started in the ground, so you definitely have the right idea. I would sow them closer together than recommended so you will get a fuller effect. You can always thin them out if they look as if they are going to be too close. Just barely cover the seeds with soil... it won't take long for them to germinate in warm weather.

I am in zone 5 and planted some seeds outside a week ago. They are up.. I dont worry of spacing, because the more the merrier.

They was gorgous.......Except for the beetles having fun.

I have some of those seeds sowed.I'd place at front of border.& they really do grow about 12 inches.I have had one bloom, but the others are catching up.I had 2 packs. To me they look 'leggy'compared with my other zinnias but with being smaller they are just thinner plants. The flowers are smaller than profusion ones.I got the ?persion carpet?(I think) its got the blended colors.the 1st was red/yellow& looks like the next one will be red/pink.I also tried a carnival seris& red spider zinnia.

beetles...try spraying Raids blue flying insect spray/Bengal green/yellow flying insect spray. The Raid seems to work longer.Spray after suns down.don't want spray wet& hit by sunshine.

I always put mine about 3-4 inches apart because I like a much fuller flowerbed.....

You'll really like them! [thumb]

my short persion carpet things have no inches between them, they may have washed that way(That did happen 2 yrs ago when planting here [thinker] I've had 2 yellow reds and have a pink red getting ready& looked to be a red pink.I like them though.I think could even grow in a hanging basket.
