I have an aloe plant that is only about a year old. I over-watered it at first and it became quite mushy and brown. I have since replanted it (with a bottom layer of gravel for drainage) and it has improved. However, the aloe gel within the plant is brown and smells very strong...not rotten, but very 'green'. Is this due to the previous drowning, or maybe its young age?
Is the brown gel still useful for medicinal purposes?
