I have a couple pots that contan more than one species of plants (ming aralia with balfour ming, Ficus benjamina underplanted with oxalis.) It is very important to select plants with similar light, water, and soil requirements. More than once have I made the fatal mistake of selecting incompatible plants; invariably one ends up in the compost heap!

That sounds like a great idea. I haven't done it yet because I don't have any nice looking large pots but someday lol.

Is anybody planting 2 or 3 plants in a decorative planter? I need some ideas. I have all common houseplants. They look nice in their containers but I want to do something different. Also I thought it would be easier to water them if you put plants needing similar conditions together.
