Hello, I would like to know what to use to make the leaves shine. Can I use vegetable oil?

Hi Ginette,

I wouldn't plants breath through their leaves and I'm not sure oil would be a good idea. They have stuff called leaf shine that is made for doing that. But a little water and a gentle hand would probably work just as well.

Hi Ginette,

Vegetable oil is OK, but a little mineral oil is better and less inclined to attract pests or cause an odor.

Plants absorb light through the tops of their leaves, so a light coating of oilswill not cause a problem. The "breathing" pores are on the undersides of the leaves and should not be clogged with oils.
