Hi Rita!

I have some Astilbe planted in a mostly shady spot. They come in all sortsa colors - the red is a very deep, almost burgundy. I love it!

Japanese Painted Fern Ursula's Red

This might work and it likes the shade like the hosta's do.

are claduims with some red shades in them.is one that has whiteish leaves with some green veining, but has some red dot like things.A low grower.
are shade impatients& are some with red flowers or white with the red dots.
Dianthus will flower some in shade if keept fertilized.
is some red cosmos,if get some bright light it will flower, but not like in sun
And are some short lilyput zinnia& i've seen the narrowleaf grown in some shade down by ball field.
Red pentas are nice.
petunias will flower in shade, but will be scantly, but are some hybrids out that will flower in a shadier spot.
I have some red salvia in my shade bed,but does get some morning sun.its lady in red.

is a red flowering lilly also.I almost forgot about that!its like a soap type in the name or pinecone ginger.I also have a bromalaid that has red flowers with purple edges, but its not suppose to be hardy for me,but is as bed is protected& see now your a yankee gardener.cleosia does well, but if you got them bugs thats been eating mine.....you'd hate the look.I've actually thought of removeing the leaves, but i'm sure nothing nutritous is left for them to munch on.are also some begonias& some have red flowers(like the rex& wax,the rex would have larger bloom)
