Does anyone know if an asparagus Fern can be trimmed? Mine isn't very full, yet has a few branches that are getting too long. If I trim them half way, will I lose the entire branch, or will they branch out and grow from the cutting point?

I've trimmed my asparagus ferns before. It's best to take the long branches clear to the base instead of just shortening them, as the branches resulting from shortening will ruin the form of the asparagus fern in my opinion. Pruning out entire branches should stimulate fuller branching from the base of the plant.

Terry, thanks for the reply. I'll cut the few branches down and hopefully it will come in fuller.

I agree with Terry. Cutting off long braches at the base stimulates fuller regrowth.
