I'm in Zone 5....NE Pennsylvania. I'd like to start a small Strawberry patch. Do I want plants or seeds? I don't know anyone around me that has strawberries to ask. Any advice on what kind?? I'd just like some fresh Strawberry Shortcake. Thanks!! Tamra

Hello [wayey] Freytam,
Welcome to The Garden Helper's Forum!
We are very glad you found us!!!

I'm just going to make a quick post here,
and tell you to go do a FORUM SEARCH and
type in STRAWBERRIES, you should come up with
a few entries on them....
We've had a few posts on growing them here.

I'll be back later this evening and give you some more pointers and hints of what I know!!!

Freytam,
Try this one too... Need help with strawberries please

I am not too into seeds, especially from strawberries, but I do know they are very easy
to grow from a plant, say like a 6 pk you buy in the nurseries, and will multiply fast for you as well...

Don't hesitate to ask more questions if you didn't find the info you're looking for.... [thumb]

Freytam, Nourse Farms is a good strawberry nursery. They have 26 different varieties of strawberries. They specify which are best for fresh eating, freezing, yield, season, and hardiness. They also discuss planting and culture.
