Wich variety do you have? A friend of mine has been trying to grow primroses here for a few years but they never come back the next spring.
Are the primulas perennial here in zone 6?

They are very hardy little guys!!
What growing conditions does she have them in??
They like shade, medium shade, and like moist
(not soggy) but can even be on the side of a little creek like area...and humousy type soil.
Mine are in good amount of shade, and mine are doing good, (a little on the drier side than I would like)

Funny, Weezie...
she has them planted in the exact environment you mention - she also has a lot of feral cats that she feeds - do you think they could be eating them? what about deer? do they eat them maybe?

I'm not sure about deer eating them, I've never ever had mine nibbled on,![[dunno]](im/graemlins/dunno.gif)
here or up on the hill...
I was just out taking a peak at mine, mine get morning sun until about 11:00am...
The only other thing I can think of, she's planted them toooooo deep, they dont' like to be planted below that soil line where they were at in the pot! /too deep k*lls them????

just be be clear, are we talking about primroses, primulas, or both?
she has the primroses that you can get at HD now for 99cents.

I've always thought they were one in the same??
I know there is several types or hybrids but it was all in the very same ball park.....
Now, sometimes, I won't swear to this as someone can make a monkey out of me, but I've always heard, not to buy plants from some of those places as they are not hardey enough to withstand
winters *freezing temps', and winters in general.
To buy plants (that you'd expect to be hardy for your area) at a nursery who usually sells just that.. the other stores sell plants that may not be hardy or up to standards of out door life.
That's the only other thing I could think of...
