Some times you can 'shock' them into blooming by digging around the roots a little.

You can "whack" the trunk with a shovel handle too..
That threatens them, and says, they're in trouble
and they need to bloom..

But, it is normal for them not to bloom for about that long....
*in the meantime... go to one of those dollar stores, and buy a couple flowers, and just stick them in there..
My mom does that for hanging baskets until they bloom.. from the street, it doesn't look bad at all... and from up close, even when you know it,
it's still a pretty flower... and color...

You have to wait until it flowers,
then a pod will form, and it will be green..
You have to wait for it to turn brown,
then you can harvest the seeds inside...

*Columbines are one of the easiest flowers to grow, and re~seed prolifically*

And there are tons of colors of columbines and
theres' pastel one's, bright red, purple, blue and whites, just white, paste yellow.. pinks..
the list goes on and on........

If you do get different colors though, to keep those one's pure, keep them alllll segragated, *far apart from one another* or they will start to give you all sorts of new varieties..

~~~~<which isn't bad either, it's so fun to see new kinds, but it will also change the originals eventually>~~~~~
Have you grown any others besides that one color?
Are you in zone 5 or 6?
LOL you are funny...I live in a kinda large city
I was going to make my back porch into my garden room this spring it gets quit a bit of light.Nothin like your green house though!!
I am zone 5...
And I have to be funny, if I don't retain my sense of humor about it all, I'd need a padded room and some white coat people to help me find my room....oh yeahhhhhhhhh! [Wink] [Wink] [Wink] [Big Grin] [Big Grin]
Yes, coming from my parents house to down town here, I am on a postage stamp....
My greenhouse can be alot of work too, no heater, watching dilagently the weather and weather reports, and how the temps are out side, if it's cloudy, do I open door, do I keep it shut, gotta keep the heat in, if you start stuff early where it's warm during the day but still cold at night,
it is rather time consuming...
sooooooooooo your back room may be just the thing, close by, the house sort heats your porch at night and you're right there, no long trips into the "Back 40" to see how things are doing, same for watering, it's right there..
no haulin' buckets or hose's...
Pro's and Con's to everything!!!!
Dodge..
I do put 2 pots on each corner usually with ornimental grass marigolds,petunias,and dusty millers in them...I was thinking about getting 2 more for the other side,but it seems to be a high traffic area. Where we bbq and have the fire pit so I was affraid flowers might get burnt.... was however thinking about putting an arch of morning glory right there.. thought it might give it some pow..
