I live in zone 9 -- I have two vines (supposedly one is male and one is female) --They are quite "leggy" --lots of leaves at the end of a naked length of vine.
Should I prune the vines back for the winter (they'll die anyway when cold January comes)? If so, how far back should I prune?

Cut the vine hard back, when the new shoots start to come, pinch out the tips after they have grown a bit, this should make for stronger growth towards the bottom of the plant. we have one that is kept in a conservatory her in the UK, but there again I am no expert.
By the way, just had a look at your site. Did you get elected?
