I vacuum daily...quite often more than once because of all my animals. I always empty the vacuum contents into the garbage but I got thinking, "why couldn't I throw this in the compost?" 90% of it is animal hair. So wutta' think? Weezie? Anyone? Would it be "compost friendly"?

sounds good to me. I know you can do dryer lint and hair so I would think the stuff from the vacum cleaner would work too.

I wouldn't see why not..
Yours probably is animal hair and dirt,
*if that much*
So, I would..

Basically the only no~no's are dairy,
meat and grease and dog and cat feces...

i thought about it, but i decided against it because the carpet fibers are synthetic right? so they wouldn't break down.

Vacuum cleaner dust is fine to use as a brown additive.
Some carpet fibres are synthetic, others are not. Many are a wool blend i think which wouldn't be a problem.

Thank-you all for the replies. I'll be emptying the vacuum in the compost bin. [thumb]
