Found the site by looking for info on morning glories. Mine have a lot of foliage... green everywhere on my front porch railing and still growing, but no blooms. I think they got too much rain.

If I cut the end of each vine will it force the blooms???? I had no problem last year.... flowers kept coming and coming. I did plant new seeds this year.

I don't know??? I am not much of a gardener. I put nothing there/ added nothing to the soil. I had them in the same place last year.

Like was it bagged soil from previous years?
Or straight ole garden dirt/soil??

Second question would be have you used any
fertilizers on them?
If yes, what were the numbers on it?
(ie: 10-40-10)

Trying to figure out if there is some source of
too much nitrogen somehow???

skeeder,

my MGs are in pure compost from a local facility, and they too are full of foliage and little flowers.

i was told that the better quality soil, the more leaves and less flowers you will get. [nutz] I see weezie has mentioned nitrogen content. I don't know all of the technical info like weezie might, but I was told that if i had poor soil, then my MGs would be full of flowers. [teacher]

my garden is wonderful, however, due to the compost. we call it "black gold". [thumb]

I have never put anything in that area. It's just plain old dirt and none of the plants in that area were fertilized. It is very strange.

Anytime I plant (due to lack of knowledge and time both) I just try to plant something that will come back and /or that covers a lot of area. Then I just pray they do well. I love the outdoors and just seeing things grow awes me.

Sounds to me like they got too much rain. A friend told me not to water MG's a lot and they will bloom more, here's are full of blooms.

Yes, I thought so too (too much rain) I am just trying to figure out how to solve the problem now so I can get some flowers.

I saw 2 this morning, but that was all. I figured it couldn't hurt if I cut the ends off the vines since they just keep growing, so we will see if that does anything.

Usually, just don't water them and they should flower more, as for the rain, don't know what to tell you there. I cut the ends off of my moon vine, which is related to Morning glories and it makes them bushier!

I do my best to live for those type of moments as well.

You might be able to find a liquid fertilizer,
such as a Shultz Plus 10~60~10..
*or one that has a high middle number*
and mix it up and give the vine a "foliar feed"
*just spraying it's leaves, early in the morning,
not in the hot sun either*
and that may just do the trick with a little
extra umphffffff, to get to blooming....
