The Tiger
William Blake

Tiger, tiger, burning bright,
In the forest of the night,
What immortal hand or eye
Could frame thy fearful symmetry?

In what distant deeps or skies
Burnt the fire of thine eyes?
On what wings dare he aspire?
What the hand dare seize the fire?

And what shoulder, and what art,
Could twist the sinews of thy heart?
When thy heart began to beat,
What dread hand forged thy dread feet?

What the hammer? What the chain?
In what furnace was thy brain?
What the anvil? What dread grasp
Dared its deadly terrors clasp?

When the stars threw down their spears
And watered heaven with their tears,
Did He smile his work to see?
Did He who made the lamb make thee?

Tiger, tiger, burning bright,
In the forest of the night,
What immortal hand or eye
Dare frame thy fearful symmetry?

no, the big cats do not purr. the purring in small cats is made by the way they breath when they are relaxed. the big cats didn't get that ability, but they roar! the little ones can't roar. one of the few differences in domestic vs wild (rather than feral) cats.
by barleychown on December 16, 2003 11:38 PM
Oh, that's too bad...their purr would be cool!! [thumb]

Honestly, I'm rather glad little cats DON'T roar...just between you guys and me...Prisilla's purr is rather annoying sometimes, like when it's the only sound in the house...but I'll never admit that to my hubby!! [lala]

As a side note, I FINALLY got the cat we adopted from the fire dept. to purr...only took 6 months!

Poor thing was SOOOO confused...half the guys there were nice to her, the other half were not...and they all wear the same uniform! [Razz]

To this day, if Mike comes home in his uniform, or stops by in one of the dept. rigs, she hides for a LONG time. [Mad]

I wish people would realize that how they treat an animal has an effect on it for the REST of it's life!!!! [Eek!] [shocked]
