Hi; I bought some geraniums this year which I
planted outside -they did not do too much due
to our wet summer. Now it is time for me to
bring them in. Now I do not have enough window
light for the house plants I have never mind
three geraniums. Years ago my mother used to
bring them in and store them in a cold cellar.
I do not know how she prepared them.
Can anyone help me? Do I need to cut them
right back to earth level and leave them in
the pot? Do I need to depot them wash them an
with a little earth put them in plastic bags
in a colder place? Any help would be gratefully
appreciated.

Pinky,
Do a FORUM SEARCH and type in geraniums......
You'll come up with a few posts on it....
I know I posted Overwintering geraniums
Not sure it answered your question, completely, but may give you a small idea of one process!

I'm sure too, there will be a couple other gardener's along to also give you some hints!
There's many ways to do it!!!!

Hi Pinky,
I'll put the link to the FORUM SEARCH, I found 29 matches for geraniums.....the first one is yours, but go to the others, there's some info there, and some answers and some on how to care for them, and assorted conversations... Links from FORUM SEARCH at the GHF...

Also, here's a link to the one I was referring to when my Gramma hung them upside down to over winter...
Pelargonium--Geranium

And here's alot of info from the Garden Helper
Geraniums from GH.
Winter Care of Geraniums/Pelargoniums
That should keep you in some good reading for a little bit!
There's alot of good info in those...

and I always try to encourage experimenting....
If you have 3 and are willing to do so, do each of them different ways... hang one upside down,
the scarest if you've never done that one before... keep one on a window sill and maybe just keep taking cuttings from the 3rd..and see which one was the easiest, most effective, or the combo of the two for you...

And if you do, please let us know how it came out!

hi Weezie;
I found your two sites on Gardener's helper -thank you- I had some trouble as my husband had set the computer for "no pop ups". Luckily I noticed at the top a notice about not being aloud pop ups and what to do if I wanted to see them. I took a chance and sure enough I got the site (which they called a pop up). I told my husband that I have had trouble before on other sites and never saw the notice up top.
I wonder if other people are having this problem and do not know what is causing it.
I got to two sites; I still have not found the 29 other messages, however I will continue to look.
It seems the best thing I can do is take cuttings; they are looking pretty straggly now; perhaps it is too late all together -ho-hum.
Thanks again
