Does anyone have the information on what this plant likes as far as light, water and fertilizer requirements? I have some seeds but I have no idea where to put it in the garden.

Tammy, is it the tall evening primrose you're talking about? (oenothera hookeri) If so it likes full sun, and dry to moist conditions. 36-60 inches tall.

Thanks all I appreciate the informaion. I guess not having the correct name was why I didn't find any information on the plant lol. That is so me. Thank you again. I love having drought tolerant plants. It saves on the amount of water carrying I have to do. Does anyone know what season they bloom in by any chance?

Okay, it said Evening????

Then it should be the one's Terry's talking about..

Very drought tolerant..
I never water the one's I let grow..
*they're weeds here I reconized and let grow*

And to be honest, I use them as a "trap crop"
for Japanese Beetles..
When I don't water them and keep my other plants watered, they are attracked to them and leave the one's I want alone!!!

Thanks for the information Weezie. Do you know approximately when they bloom. I'm still working on a 3 season garden but I don't know when these bloom so I'm not sure where I should put them in relation to everything else. I have two tiers that are for my drought tolerant plants. Or maybe since they draw bugs I should put them in a pot at the other end of the weed patch where the landlord won't let me garden. There's a thought.

I wanna say sometime around end*ish*/June/July up here..
You might have them earlier where you are??
Not 100%... I know they are tall and blooming by the time the Japanese Beetles are out in full force here...

They are a pretty flower and it's a pretty yellow color..when given a wee~bit of attention to...

thanks Weezie. Now I know where to plant them and that is cool. I'll make a special note to look at them carefully when they bloom. I am so looking forward to this summer and all of them looking nice and pretty.

you may have got those seeds from me & it bloomed about Late June/July.At one time didn't know what I had.I think they get taller with afternoon shade.my 1st yr were about 9 ft and this year were shorter 6 ft and easier to harvest seeds.I didn't get bugs.I got night pollinaters& some butterflys went to them.I've got a clump for this year in butterfly bed with the hysopp. The foliage survies my frost.

Dodge, very interesting. That looks like my primrose but mine isn't a night bloomer. I have mine in full sun and never water them. They grew to around 4 feet last season.

Hummmmmm, that sounds tempting. I am busy emptying a gallon juice jug maybe I'll plant some and cover them with that. I would like to have a clump if possible.
